Gartner’s Top Strategic Technologies For 2009

IT research firm Gartner Inc. says companies should pay particularly close attention to any strategic technologies that can impact their long-term plans, programs and initiatives. Gartner has compiled a list of what it considers the top 10 technologies and trends enterprises should be considering. Among them:
– virtualization,
– cloud computing,
– the evolution of server technology,
– Web-oriented architectures,
– the “enterprise mashup product environment,”
– heterogeneous server systems,
– social software and networking,
– a reduction in “the number of different communications vendors with which a typical organization works,”
– business intelligence tools, and
– Green IT.
