IDS, Samit Unveil Centralizing Data System in India

IDS has signed a collaborative arrangement with Samit Enterprises to take DataNet2 to the Indian market. Samit has great experience in introducing reporting and analysis services to the upstream industry in India, having previously worked with Landmark’s flagship product, Open Wells. The company has decided, however, that the IDS business model provides the best opportunities both for Samit and for those clients across India who are ready to move away from the traditional license-per-seat arrangement and experience the advantages of the unlimited-usage, Web-delivery model offered by IDS.

DataNet2 from IDS is a suite of powerful reporting tools, based on the concept of centralizing data from drilling, geology and completions reports to be acquired, shared, viewed and delivered across the Web or via the client’s network. The system is WITSML-compliant and will become a key enabler for India’s intelligent oilfield.

Douwe Franssens, General Manager of the IDS Group, said: “We believe that DataNet2 will act as a real advance to the Indian market. For over a decade, IDS has used its expertise to make upstream reporting and analysis simple and cost-effective. We are delighted that DataNet2 will now be available across India, with the level of support that our customers expect.”

Sanjeev Mittal, Managing Director at Samit, said: “The depth of functionality of IDS’s DataNet2, combined with its delivery via the Internet, provides tremendous value to its clients in the upstream hydrocarbon industry. We are pleased to be partnering with IDS to bring this service to our clients in India.”

OMV Implements IDS DrillNet for Global Operations

IDS, provider of Web-based daily reporting services, has signed a new contract with European oil and gas company OMV to install the company’s DrillNet service across its global operations. DrillNet allows data and documents to be recovered instantly and analyzed, producing a customized daily drilling report, dozens of associated summary reports and a final well report.

Because OMV is a global company, it is important that its reporting system is Web-based to ensure maximum data transparency across the enterprise. DrillNet is the first online, WITSML-enabled drilling reporting service that offers an intuitive user interface supported by powerful analysis and reporting tools and a fully integrated search engine. This enables OMV to analyze performance data at a global scale as well as import data from OMV’s historical database.

Markus Doschek, technical support team leader for well engineering at OMV, said: “We have worked with IDS to custom-build a reporting tool that works for our diverse global operations. The Web-based nature of the system gives us unparalleled accessibility, while still maintaining utmost security. The pricing model offers ‘no use, no charge,’ which makes it an extremely cost-effective option for our company.”

The system makes it easy to enter data with a minimal amount of time spent by engineers at the rig site. The Web-based solution gives OMV the greatest flexibility of data entry. IDS’s suite of reporting tools, DataNet2, is also fully integrated, so OMV has the option of utilizing any of IDS’s other reporting services in conjunction with DrillNet.

Beth Anderson, IDS business development manager for the UK & Europe, said: “We are delighted to have signed this contract with OMV. We have gotten to know their team very well while we have worked with them to adapt DrillNet to their specific needs, and we are looking forward to a continued good relationship.”

Addax to Use IDS Drilling Reporting Services

IDS, provider of Web-based daily reporting services, has signed a new contract to provide drilling reporting services for Addax Petroleum. IDS was invited to participate in a selection process to find a global solution for drilling reporting systems for the international E&P company. Addax Petroleum selected IDS DrillNet as the most flexible and cost-effective solution to the challenge of its remote drilling locations.

Saskia Schils, Performance/QAQC Drilling Engineer at Addax Petroleum, said: “The one-on-one training offered by IDS across the Internet is a huge positive for us as a global operation in often isolated sites. Having a 24×7 support team included in the daily charge was also very important in ensuring the service is cost-effective.”

The Corporate Drilling Department at Addax Petroleum and the technical team at IDS worked together to ensure the custom-built system met all possible requirements. Being WITSML-enabled, DrillNet was able to meet systems integration needs. Addax Petroleum found the software easy to roll out and was particularly impressed by the ease of data input. IDS only charges for use, so the system is more commercially viable than a traditional license fee arrangement.

Beth Anderson, IDS Business Development Manager for the UK and Europe, said: “We have worked hard to ensure that DrillNet is fully tailored to meet both the practical and financial needs of Addax Petroleum. Our Web-based system fits perfectly with their business model as it allows access anytime, anywhere, requiring just a Web browser and log-in details; it also provides the security and peace of mind required.”
